April 2024 - Tennessee - Stop 5 Great Smoky Mountains NP - Part 3

We drove to Cades Cove to do a hike at Abrams Falls, but it was closed.  We drove the Cades Cove loop and saw a black bear!

This was a different one, a momma bear.  She was far away and we saw a peek of her cub but could not get a picture.

The Cades Cove loop drive was beautiful.

We saw a wild turkey

Later in the day, we did our last hike in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.  It was the Laurel Falls Trail, (about 2.6 miles).

Our last night in Pigeon Forge, we had a nice dinner with Carolyn's longtime friends (who happened to be in the area on vacation) at the Dollywood Heartsong Resort.

Our next stop is Chattanooga.

  1. Love the bear pics! How nice you could connect with old friends. You're certainly in the heart of Appalachia!
