August 2019 - Vail

After leaving Rapid City, I headed south to Vail, CO for 2 nights in a Marriott resort.  I did not play golf in Vail, there is only 1 course there and it was quite expensive.  The elevation in Vail is just over 8,000 ft.  Here are pictures from my 2 long walks along the stream and in the downtown Vail area.

 

I am off to Kanab, UT for the next 3 days.

August 2019 - Rapid City

From Omaha, I drove to Rapid City, SD.  That is about 20 miles from Mt. Rushmore so I played golf in Rapid City and visited Mt. Rushmore. 

I visited Mt. Rushmore in the evening my first day in Rapid City.  It was very cloudy and overcast. Here are some pictures.

I went back to Mt. Rushmore the second day in the morning and got some great pictures.  I also did the hike up to the base of the incredible sculpture.

The sculptor of Mt. Rushmore is Gutzon Borglum.  Here is a sculpture of him.

 

I played golf at the Elks Golf Course in Rapid City and had a very good round.
