February 2018 in Chattanooga, TN

I finished up a great trip to Myrtle Beach on Sunday and drove to Chattanooga, TN.  I played 4 times in Myrtle Beach, twice at Grande Dunes, and at Long Bay (a Jack Nicklaus design) and Prestwick (a PB Dye design).  The weather was in the 70s all week and great for golf.  My golf game still needs work, but I had a blast.  Thank you Don for being a great host.

It is a little cooler here in Chattanooga, supposed to be in the upper 50s to lower 60s all week.  Greg and I are headed to Flat Rock, Alabama to play this afternoon.  I will be able to check Alabama off my list!

Looking forward to several rounds with Greg this week and next week it is on to Kentucky.

February 2018 in Myrtle Beach

My retirement is official!  I just completed the first week of my retirement life.  I spent the week with my brother Jimmy and my favorite sister-in-law Judy in Yorktown, VA.  We had a good week catching up on family news and solving the US gun problem.

I did not end up playing golf while at my brother's house because it rained off and on all week.  It was really nice on Thursday (in the 70's) but it started raining at noon and rained all afternoon.  That was OK because I finished doing my taxes and got some things organized in the van.

I drove down to Myrtle Beach on Saturday and met my cousin, Carl, and his wife, Heather, for lunch near Raleigh, NC.  Thanks for lunch Carl! It turns out that Heather was childhood friends with a daughter of my Dad's half brother, David McCafferty, near Harrisonburg, VA.  Small world!

Made it safely to Myrtle Beach to stay with my college friend Don at his condo for the week.  We are planning to play several times this week, starting today at the Grande Dunes golf course.

So far, retirement is awesome!!!
