We drove from White Sands NP (Alamogordo, NM) to Tucson next. On our way, we took a slight detour to visit the old west town of Tombstone, AZ. It is well preserved and also the site of a murder of 3 men at the OK Corral. There are many gunfight reenactments that you can attend. Here are some pictures from Tombstone.
After the first night in our airbnb condo, we went to Saguaro National Park (East) and hiked the Mica View Trail and the Cactus Forest Trail (both are short and make a loop).
On the way out of the park (after our hike), we saw this fellow in the road. Luckily, we were safely in our van when Carolyn got this picture. This is a rattlesnake!
Later that day, we found a park 5 minutes from our condo where there were 12 dedicated pickleball courts. We played a few games with a nice local couple.
That is all for the first day in Tucson. Next up, our hardest hike of the trip so far.
Oh the cactus in bloom are so cool! Love the cactus flower pics, thank you. The variety of cactus flower colors is amazing. Ok you two, what's with the smiley face?
ReplyDeleteWell, we were going to have him joins us in every picture from a National Park and every new state boundary sign, but it was kind of a pain so we have now discontinued the smiley face,
ReplyDeleteOk, no more smiley face. The pictures are amazing.
ReplyDeleteBring back the smiley!
