From Pinnacles National Park, we drove to Fresno for 1 night, and then made our way to Kings Canyon National Park. We stayed 1 night inside the park in a tent cabin. Our first hike was the General Grant Tree trail, a short paved loop that takes you to the General Grant tree.
This is the General Grant tree. It is a Sequoia tree and the 3rd largest tree in the world (by volume - not the tallest). It is 1700 years old, 268 feet tall and 40 feet wide.
From Grant Grove, we drove up to the Panoramic View trail and had another short hike up to spectacular views.
After that hike, we drove down to Hume Lake and took a few pictures.
This is a view of Hume Lake from above.
Then we drove into Kings Canyon along the South Fork of Kings River part of the way.
At the end of Kings Canyon Road, we stopped at Grizzly Falls.
This is our tent cabin in Grant Grove Village, inside Kings Canyon National Park. It was rustic, with no electricity.
The next day, we headed to Sequoia National Park to see the largest tree in the world (by volume).
Excellent pictures! Was the tent cabin cool? It looked comfy. Love the flower pics, thank you. Really exciting that you saw General Grant. Will you also see General Sherman? Just the massiveness of those trees must be so impressive.
