May 2024 - California - Stop 23 - Channel Islands National Park

After arriving in Venture, we took a ferry early the next morning for the 1.5 hour boat ride to Santa Cruz Island (the largest of the Channel Islands).  The National Park area of Santa Cruz is on a portion of the island.  We saw a whale on the return trip (but did not get a picture).  Here are some pictures.

We hiked a nice trail to Cavern Point and Potato Harbor.  Great views!

After the hike, we relaxed at the beach and saw some cool birds while waiting for the return ferry.

After returning from Santa Cruz, we watched the sunset on the beach at Ventura Harbor.

That is all from Ventura and the Channel Islands.  Next we are visiting San Simeon and visiting the Hearst Castle.

May 2024 - California - Stop 23 - Ventura

After leaving Los Angeles, we stopped at the Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, CA. After arriving in Ventura we walked around the harbor and got some sunset pictures.  Here are some pictures from the Reagan Library.

The former Air Force One presidential plane and Marine One helicopter used by President Reagan were on display.

Outside of the building a Stealth Fighter and an F-15 fighter jet are on display.
