May 2024 - Arizona - Stop 19 - Flagstaff Part 1

We drove from the Grand Canyon to Flagstaff for 2 nights. The first day we did a day trip to Petrified Forest National Forest. We learned all about how the petrified wood came to be here (from wood being buried in the sand under water for thousands of years).  We also did a couple of short hikes and a scenic drive.

 

One hike was the Crystal Forest trail.

Then we did a scenic drive through the Blue Mesa.

And we finished our visit at the Painted Desert area of the park.

May 2024 - Arizona - Stop 18 - Grand Canyon Part 4

After hiking the 2 below the rim trails, we hiked on the Rim Trail some and rode a shuttle to see different parts of the South Rim of the Grand Canyon.  Here are some pictures.

May 2024 - Arizona - Stop 18 - Grand Canyon Part 3

On our second day in the park, we decided to hike the South Kaibob Trail dosn to Ooh Aah Point.  It was 0.9 miles down and 0.9 miles back up, for a total of 1.8 miles.  Here are some pictures.

We really enjoyed that hike, and as you can see it was very scenic.
