Here is an antelope (also called Pronghorns) in
the fields on the eastern side of the park.
Here is an elk I spotted in the same general
area.
These are pictures from my Phelps Lake hike
The Hidden Falls trail hike around Jenny Lake was my favorite in the Tetons
– you can take a boat ride (for a fee) across the lake and make the hike
shorter, but I hiked around the lake and got some great pics. I saw 2 elk on the way around the lake.
Hidden Falls
On the way back on the Hidden Falls trail I took
the Moose Ponds trail and got some great shots of a bull moose that was hanging
around the ponds. Thanks to my awesome
camera, I was able to get some good pictures without getting very close to him. He was munching on grass and drinking a lot
of water.
Here is some video of the big guy:
After that amazing encounter, I finished my hike around Jenny Lake.
Here are some shots of the Tetons from just
outside the park entrance (the main road runs North-South just east of the park
entrance). Buck Mountain (one of the
Teton mountains) is in there somewhere…
I also hiked the Taggert Lake trail and it is very
scenic – as you can see below.
Here is Taggert Lake – the water is unbelievably
clear.
My last hike in the Grand Tetons was a two mile
figure eight hike at Colter Bay on the north end of the park. This area offers a slightly different view of
the Tetons.
Highlights from my Yellowstone National Park visit are coming up next.
Beautiful pictures Rob. Thank you for sharing. Sounds like quite the adventure. Have fun out there and I'll keep reading...
