June 2018 Wyoming Part 1

I drove to Alpine, Wyoming from Helper, Utah and had a great place to stay in a house up on a hillside south of town.  It was about 1 hour from the Grand Teton National Park and about 2.5 hours from Yellowstone National Park.  I did some hiking in both parks and played golf in Wyoming and in Idaho (I was very close to the Idaho border (and drove through Idaho on my way north).  I played golf in Afton, Wyoming and I played in Driggs, Idaho (just west of the Grand Tetons) while I was staying in Alpine.  My first full day in Wyoming I had an unfortunate encounter with a cow elk, I hit it just after dark with my left headlight and suffered damage to my van.  I was fine but the elk did not survive.  Here is my van after the accident.

I got a rental car for a week and continued my adventures.  Here are some pics around Jackson Hole and Alpine, Wyoming.

Jackson Hole

Starland Valley View golf course – decent course with great views – only $20 to walk

Links at Tetons Golf course – just west of the Grand Tetons (Driggs, Idaho) – I walked the course and shot a 74, my career best round here, 3 under par on the front nine and 4 over par on the back nine, for at 34 + 40 = 74.  Awesome day!  The course set up perfectly for me, very short (par 72) with really smooth greens.

Stay tuned (in the next post) for pictures and hiking information about the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone.

  1. Glad you're ok after the accident Rob! As always, great pictures, thank you. Please let us know about the Grand Teton National Park. I would imagine it's stunning like the other places you're visiting.
