I traveled to Lansing, Michigan to visit a friend
(thanks Donna), played some golf, and did some exploring around the Michigan
State campus and the Michigan state capital. Here are some pictures.
I played the Forest Akers East course on the
campus at Michigan State in East Lansing.
It is a beautiful course and in excellent condition.
Next was a long walk around the Michigan State
campus (the next day)
The next day I toured the Ransom Eli Olds (R.E. Olds)
Museum in Lansing. It is near the site
of his original manufacturing facility in Lansing less than a mile from the
state capitol building. Very interesting
museum. R. E. Olds got his start
building a variety of stationary engines for use in farms and factories, before
building engines for automobiles.
Here are some pictures walking around Lansing
(state capitol building is visible in some) and the Grand River flows through
the downtown area.
I also played the Forest Akers West golf course on
the Michigan State campus. It is even
nicer than the Forest Akers East course.
I hiked on a beautiful trail in Lansing and
stopped by the Ellison Brewery.
I walked around downtown Lansing another day and
went on a tour of the state capital building.
This is the Governor’s office (and the atrium
just outside)
House chambers
Senate chambers

Another day walking around the downtown area
Here I am with my medal for completing the Mayor’s
Walk in Lansing.
Stay tuned for Wisconsin photos in upcoming
posts...
Great post Rob. Love the pics. Had no idea that area was so nice!
ReplyDeleteI was also surprised, having never been to the Lansing area. There are many really nice golf courses in Michigan and it is very nice there in the summer.
