April 2018 Tucson Part 2

I decided to make this one a separate post because I visited a fantastic museum and have a ton of pictures from that visit to share.  On my last 2 days in Tucson I went to the museum and played golf at Saddlebrooke Ranch.

On Monday, I went to the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum (recommended by fellow hikers) and it was really impressive. It is a Botanical garden, zoo, and natural history museum all rolled into one.

Saguaro cactus with buds

Saguaro Cactus - these can live several hundred years, do not start growing arms until about 70 years old, and sometimes do not grow arms - it is not known why...

Eastern Collared Lizard

Cactus Garden

River Otter

Bighorn Sheep

Here is one with a flower coming out of a bud

Cool birds in the aviary

Really cool hummingbirds in the hummingbird aviary

My last golf round was at Saddlebrooke Ranch golf club north of Tucson. It was also a really nice course with great scenery. I played with 3 retired guys, 2 of them are snowbirds headed back north to Wisconsin and Chicago soon. We had a great time.

Tucson is a great place and has moved up the list for retirement possibilities.  Lots of good golf and activities and great hiking.  Also a great climate (especially in the winter).  It is not quite as warm as Phoenix because it is at 2500 ft. elevation.  On to the next stop, Bullhead City.
