March 2018 Week 2 in Austin

I had another great week in Texas this past week.  I played golf and did a lot of walking around the city and found some really good barbecue places.  My favorite in Austin so far is Black's Barbecue on Guadalupe Street.

I also went to the LBJ Presidential Library and Museum on the UT campus.  It is worth a visit (not quite as nice as the more modern presidential libraries I have visited) but there are some interesting things there.  Here are a couple of photos.

It was a very rainy day (the only one during my two weeks in Austin).

I played golf at a really nice course (Roy Kizer) with 3 locals.  That was a little more expensive than usual ($24 to walk 18) but it was worth it.

I hiked to the Barton springs pool, and that was very interesting.  It is a mammoth pool fed by a natural spring.  Here are some pictures.

Finally, here are some pictures of the paths along the river in Austin with a few turtles.

Today, I am off to San Antonio for a week.  I heard there is a basketball game happening tonight at the Alamodome, so I am looking at getting a ticket.  (Hint: It is the NCAA Mens Division I Championship game between Michigan and Villanova)
